Still life has long been one of my favorite pursuits. Especially "found" objects. My wife Peggy, an inveterate garage sale frequenter, brought home some old books. The moment I spied them I knew they were a painting ready to happen. The freshly poured glass of wine sets up a nice contrast against the dusty old volumes. Chardin and Manet were masters of this genre and continue to provide me with inspiration.
